Paper Roll Composition

A complete paper roll is usually composed of multiple layers of composite materials, mainly including:

Base Paper: Usually paper cup base paper, made from virgin wood pulp, with good stiffness, tensile strength, and food safety. The weight (thickness) and quality of the base paper may vary depending on the purpose of the paper cup (cold drink cup, hot drink cup).
Coating:
- PE coating (Polyethylene): The most common inner and outer coating. Food grade polyethylene plastic is uniformly coated on the surface of the base paper after being melted at high temperature by a laminating machine. Its main function is to prevent leakage and penetration, whether it is for liquids such as water, oil, or coffee. For hot beverage cups, PE coating can also provide some insulation effect.
- PLA coating (Polylactic Acid): a bio based biodegradable material derived from plants such as corn and cassava. Used for manufacturing "environmentally friendly" or "compostable" paper cups. Its function is similar to PE, but it needs to be degraded under specific industrial composting conditions.
Printing Layer: If patterned paper cups need to be made, they will be printed on the base paper before the composite PE coating is applied. Usually, flexographic printing is used, using environmentally friendly water-based ink.
